No. 53. Mating call of the Red-Spotted Toad, Bufo punctatus, recorded at 11:10 p.m. on April 22, 1957, near Austin, Texas. Red-Spotted Toads in this Texas population are somewhat smaller than those in Arizona and Sonora, and appear to have higher pitched voices. Water flowing in a stream alongside the toad is discern- ible in the background.
